The Importance of Antifreeze to Your Vehicle

Antifreeze is the liquid that cools the engine in your vehicle. Antifreeze runs through your radiator, radiator hoses, heater hoses, heater core, and cooling tank. The water pump is what pumps the antifreeze through the engine. Antifreeze has three important jobs, it helps to cool the engine throughout the summer, it helps to stop rust inside the engine and keeps the engine from freezing up in the winter.

There are two types of antifreeze, green antifreeze with is the most common type and dexcool with is orange in color. You should have your coolant checked at least three times a year. In the winter antifreeze should always be good down to 0 degrees or below. Your antifreeze needs to be flushed and changed every two to three years. It is recommended not to mix the two types of antifreeze. You should have a trained technician at a local service station or garage to check, fill or replace antifreeze as needed. This small preventive maintenance could save you a lot of expense and maintenance trouble with you car. Thank you. Be safe and happy motoring.

Thanks you!
